Consumer Tracking

"Who buys what, where, when, how much, at what price?”

– the questions you have, and the ones which we can answer for you by enlisting the aid of our Household Panel.

The GfK Household Panel comprises 2,800 households, selected on a representative basis according to geographical and socio-demographic characteristics. As such, the Panel is a miniaturised, true-to-scale depiction of the whole population and is representative of 3.4 million Austrian private households.

The households file reports on a weekly basis using Inhome Scanning (Scan*IT or Electronic Diary) detailing their purchases in various categories of their day-today requirements.

Not only the purchases from the classical food retailers are registered but also those from the Discounters (Hofer, Lidl), from food specialist stores and the Cash & Carry and all other possible outlets for the purchase of FMCG items.

Retailer Expertise 2011:
The Austrian Grocery Trade Semiannual Report 2011

GfK Consumer Tracking offers you additional insight on current trends within the Austrian grocery trade.
The study focuses on changes in buying behaviour which are responsible for the development of trade channels and individual banners. It analyses the trends of the discounters Hofer and Lidl as well as the different store formats of Rewe and Spar. Switching effects between the various key accounts as well as the development of FMCG baskets is carefully examined by the GfK market research experts. (The study is available in German language only.)
